What we believe

We believe in God
At Craigmore Methodist, we believe in a living God. We believe in a God who is active in our world and in our lives through His Holy Spirit. A God who not only created us, but who cares for us and who loves us. A God who reveals Himself to us through His Word. A God who sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for, so that we could be freed from our wrongdoings and who defeated death at Calvary. A God with whom we can have a real, personal relationship. A God who has a vision for our village and our country. And a God with whom we will spend all eternity.
Distinctive Emphases Of Methodist Belief

As a Church within the Irish Methodist Connexion, we subscribe to the doctrines and beliefs of the Methodist Church in Ireland, a reformed Christian faith in the Protestant tradition. In particular, as Methodists, we believe in what today are frequently referred to as 'Wesley's Four Alls':

  • All Need To Be Saved ‘Having fallen short of the glory of God’ (Romans Ch.3 v.23), all people have done wrong and need to be saved;
  • All Can Be Saved Everyone can be saved exclusively by God’s grace and by faith in His Son, Jesus Christ;
  • All Can Know They Are Saved We can know we are saved through the witness of the Holy Spirit, which ‘speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us we are God’s children’ (Romans Ch.8 v.16);
  • All Can Be Saved To The Uppermost There is no limit to what God’s grace can do in, with and through us.

Prayer Focus
In Colossians Ch.4 v.2 we read 'Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.' So prayer is central to our lives as Christians.

To guide us in our prayers for Methodism across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, the Methodist Church in Ireland publishes an annual Prayer Focus journal. Complementing this, is #PrayerFocusDigest - a 'bitesize' version of Prayer Focus delivered each day to your Inbox.
